Questions, answered
Preparation comes first. Here’s how Starbright supports that goal, where live assistance fits, and what’s coming next.
Yes. Starbright is built first for preparation: developing your own stories, understanding the role, spotting potential gaps, and practicing with dynamic questions. The goal is to help you walk into the conversation better prepared and able to speak for yourself. Live assistance is a secondary, optional use for conversations where it is disclosed and authorized.
There isn’t a universal yes. Live use must comply with applicable law, the interview’s rules, platform terms, and confidentiality obligations. You are responsible for how you use Starbright and for ensuring your use complies with these requirements. Audio capture and transcription can require notice or consent, even without a saved audio recording. Requirements vary by jurisdiction, and participants may be in different places. Check what applies before enabling live assistance; if you’re unsure, seek qualified legal advice. This FAQ is general information, not legal advice.
For background on U.S. recording and consent rules, see the Reporters Committee’s recording guide.
How you use it matters. Starbright is designed to help you prepare, communicate your real experience, and use assistance openly where it’s allowed. Practice and story development can help you build your own skills. During an assessment, follow the agreed rules: don’t present AI-generated work as unaided work, invent qualifications, or claim experience you don’t have. You remain responsible for what you say and submit.
Because the goal is to help you prepare and build your own ability to communicate. Starbright is a prep tool first. A mode designed to conceal AI use would work against that purpose and the trust a good interview depends on. The teleprompter and remote controls help you stay focused; they aren’t a promise of invisibility or a way around interview rules. We want you to feel confident using Starbright openly.
For live assistance, explain how you intend to use it and confirm that the interviewer or organizer permits it before the call. Obtain any required consent from affected participants before audio capture or transcription, and honor requests to stop. Permission to join a meeting, or use a meeting platform, doesn’t automatically permit AI assistance. If assistance isn’t allowed, use Starbright to prepare beforehand.
Transparency should go both ways. Interviewers may also use recording, transcription, or AI interview guidance tools. They should explain that use to you before the interview and obtain any required consent. You can ask which tools are being used, how your information will be handled, and what alternatives are available if you’re uncomfortable.
No. AI suggestions can be inaccurate, and automated transcripts can miss words or attribute them to the wrong speaker. Review suggestions against your own knowledge and experience. Guardrails guide the output; they don’t guarantee accuracy. Treat transcripts as preparation aids, not certified records or proof of what someone said.
People who want to prepare thoughtfully, practice out loud, and explain their own experience clearly. Story editing and role preparation support a range of careers; Whiteboarding for business, technical, and engineering challenges is being tested separately.
Starbright analyzes a job description with resume context to identify role requirements and likely focus areas. Story coverage helps you connect relevant experience to those requirements and spot potential weak points to prepare for before the call.
You own your original stories and review suggested changes. Story summaries are generated from your reviewed material, and skill tags remain editable. You can also curate your interview analysis and story links.
The beta is expected to begin in late October 2026 and may run through the rest of 2026.

Downloads will be shared with beta access. Whiteboarding is being tested; access details will be confirmed when the beta opens.
